..was that WONDERFUL movie; it was shown on TCM, last week, as part of
Guest Celebrity Favorite Flicks, and it was selected by nun-other than
James Ellroy, author of many noir-detective/cop books (and movies, like
L.A. Confidential) .
Funny thing: Ellroy stated, and the show-host, Bob Osborne appeared to
agree "that the movie was not available on tape".
Oh contraire!
I've got the flick, right here, and its in Living VHS, available from
The Video Beat (www.thevideobeat.com).
BTW, in the movie, you will see a 57 CRL & a Coro D500 all-black 4dr
sedan be used interchangeably, by the hero-detectves; the
bad-guy/assassins have to drive a reportedly souped-up 57 Savoy 4-dr
sedan (driven by itinerent getaway driver Richard Jeckel).
There is one view of a 57 Coro CHP cruiser, whereas the City of Frisco
cops have to put up with driving Farts, around town.
This is definitely an outdoors/city production, but, if you know Frisco
(as Ellroy & Osborne discussed, at the end of the flick) don't try to
'follow' the driving routes as shown, around the town/environs!

Speaking of TV shows...
I saw a movie on AMC a few nights ago...the name of it is on the tip of my
mind, but maybe someone could help me out. The bad guys drove a 57 Plymouth
and the Goodguy detectives drove a 57 Dodge. It was about a drug smuggling
ring, one of the bad guys was an older guy sort of mentoring a younger guy
to learn the ropes when it came to "knocking off" people so they could find
the drugs hidden in various goods that were carried back to the US by
passengers on a ship. They end up taking a woman and her daughter hostage
because she used the drugs they were smuggling in her doll as powder for the
doll's face and didn't want to be suspected of keeping the drugs for
themselves. I know the first word of the title was "The" and it was only
two words...so I know half of it, but not the important half.
I saw the last part of the movie and thoroughly enjoyed it...I would
recommend it to anyone who likes old Forward Look cars, as there were others
in the movie as well (aside from the stars). I don't think they even
wrecked either of the cars...so that's a bonus as well.

For those of us with Dish Network, who also subscribe to the
"Super Station" package, at 10:30 -11:30 PM tonite, KTLA will
show two episodes, & I understand that ol' Peter drove FWDLK'ers.
My 2 pics, of the 56 B-J car's engine, and its 'billboard',
which I sent to the house were too big, to be accepted by
The List, so I sent them to Jim Hoekendijk, so that when he
awakens, soon, he might be able to re-size & forward them 'on'.
