276-1 Rear Update
Neil,
Many guys forget the basic thing on
carbs and transmissions linkage. If you are not getting full throttle on
carbs and are not getting full pressure on the transmission linkage the car will
shift too soon. The transmission linkage must be adjusted to full
travel until it can go no further when the gas pedal is to the metal. This
is a two man operation ---one in the car and one under the car. It must travel
the full length until it can go no further at full
throttle.
CAUTION--- If engine is cold
the carburetor heat choke is on then you will not get full
throttle on carbs or transmission. Most Mopar with dual carbs are not getting
full throttle and the owner does not even know it. Carburetors return springs
are also a big problem, almost all of them today are wrong------too heavy a
return spring will keep you from getting full throttle and full shift pressure
to transmission which results in poor performance on street or drag strip.
ESPECIALLY ON DUAL CARBRETORS.!!!!
