After a number of different names for early 1915 - 1918 devices for cooling
food such as Guardian, Keep-O, Cold-Wave, Jack Frost, December
Morn, Kleen-Kold and Northern Light, William C. Durant, the founder
of GM is credited with inventing and trade marking the
name FRIGIDAIRE in 1918.. More than you probably
wanted to know but it is interesting how old the name actually is...It
became a division of GM in 1919.
