Since you're probably blasting them, have a small patch welded from
underneath the hole, then filled with filler. Filler will last a long time if
the surface and underside is prepped properly.....

Subject: [FWDLK] funky chrome spear
thingy
----- Original Message ----- I once sold a front fender with
headlight bucket, and fenderwell liner because it had some funky (later I
learned it was optional on a 300) chrome spear thing on the top of the
fender. And I was glad to see it go!!!!
Finally, a pithy question I can
relate to! [Not a pissy comment to ignore...]
I just picked
up a nice rust-free set of fenders for my '58 DeSoto Firedome in
California after a five year search for a good reasonable pair. Problem
is they're from a '57; same sheet metal but side trim in a different place
and those hellacious double chrome spears on top.
What's the best
way to fill in the holes? I've heard they can be welded a little at
a time from the outside in, and that's preferable to bondo. Any
other suggestions?
