Two of the three D501's that went to Daytona competed in the Standing
and the Flying Mile runs, and each one (which were both driven to Daytona
by their owners, without any-much fine-tuning to them)  finished a best 4th-
place in each class.

Anybody could have stuck a T/Flite into any car, at any time---in fact, one of the two known surviving 501 verts was reportedly 'converted' to a T/Flite
by its owner, but, it has no known racing history.
