Hello All
I live in the Ramapo Mountains in Oakland, NJ about 35 miles northwest of New York City. We had about 10-11 inches of rain and 45 to 50 miles per hour winds. Parts of the town and surrounding counties got hit really bad with flooding. The Ramapo River, which runs through Oakland, crested about 7-8 feet above flood level. Luckily we live about a mile and a half uphill from the river. Other rivers in the surrounding counties crest up to 15 feet above flood level. The amount of rain that fell was really unbelievable. No trees down and we had power throughout the storm. Though I had 15 gallons of gas and a generator ready just in case. My daughter on the other side of town lost power for about 36 hours. My other daughter, about 3 blocks away, was fine. So all in all, we made out OK. But some of the other people in town are still trying to dry out.
