Those numbers are a production code. If Goodyear has records back that far and are willing to look it up, you should be able to get a possible production date and location. It would likely not be an exact date. Those numbers were used to id a specific production lot or run.

Think it was around 1970 that the feds started requiring more detailed codes be put on all manufacturers tires. I dealt with those tire numbers when I was a Goodyear factory store service manager. Then it was possible to tell who actually produced a tire. I.e. if a tire came in with Badger Paint Store on the side wall (Oh, yes, I bought some of those in the 60’s) one could tell from the number stamp who made it. As a tire dealer we had the complete listing, which was relatively easily obtained if one tried. Any of you old enough to remember when Sears first introduced radial tires it was the world’s worst kept secret that they were manufactured by Michelin. Sears tire sales people used that as part of their pitch.

Firestone, before they were part of Bridgestone, was real big in building tires for the various chain stores. Probably still but I’m so far removed from it now… Most of the tire manufacturers were doing the same except Goodyear……… sorta. Goodyear even used to advertise that only made Goodyear tires. What their ads didn’t say was that Kelly-Springfield was wholly owned by Goodyear and they made all kinds of tires for the chain stores.
