If I may interject. There's been a couple of different emails that have been left off when you hit the "reply to all" option. If this discussion was on the website, they would all be there and not lost along the way. And then it would be easy to reference later on.

I third that comment. Please just delete the post if it is not of interest to you. Any and all information pertinent to our cars should flow freely to everyone. You never know when or to whom it may be of value. That is what this list is all about. The posts are for the education of the group. While I understand your point and am occasionally annoyed by an in box full of posts not of interest to me, I am quick with the delete button, happy for my freedom to use it, and more concerned for the learning of others than my own potential annoyance. On a day like Thanksgiving, in a place where rocket and small arms fire are the norm, this really is "small potatoes" in the bigger scheme ========================================= On Nov 22, 2012, at 5:39 PM, Matt Proske wrote:
Thank you for making this discussion public as I wouldn't have had the opportunity to see it otherwise and I'm not like all those other people that already know everything. I suggest this discussion, like many others, be on the board and not emailed to every list member. I know anything about this poly/hemi change, nor do I care about it, and don’t want to go through all the emails, of every private discussion. Thanks for your understanding. Just remember when you send an email out if it has to go to everyone – or if it would be better posted on the appropriate section of the great FL website. Hope you’re all having a wonderful Thanksgiving. Ed Petrus My first brand new car was a '56 Dodge Coronet, coupe, D500. I ruled my area of western PA for many months, until a '57 Pontiac tri-power came along. And then he only nudged me out in a 1/2 mile drag race on the back roads of PA. I won every race between my D500 and the new '57 D500's the Dodge dealer (my cousin) had. Maybe in those days, the answer was the 3/4 race cam I had ordered with the car. Dammit, I was in college in 1961 and the engine needed an overhaul. I had no spare cash so traded it in on a 1959 Hillman
for the economy. I still am kicking my posterior. Fast forward to 1985. I purchased a '56 Dodge Custom Royal 4-door sedan. Rebuilt everything and replaced the stock 4-barrel carb with a 650 cfm Carter. I could not tell any performance difference between this car and the D500 I had many years before. And, I even leaned the jets out as I was going to drive it to the WPC National Meet in Detroit that year and I wanted a bit of economy. Just my 2 cents worth. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Well, you'd better TELL him that his new car ain't gonna be like
the one he used to own...his new cloned engine will not perform as well as his former one did, even though it might appear to he a Hemi engine.
Dave Homstad brought up a good point about the exhaust manifolds being different between the two engines, as well as the general mechanical differences between them.
Really feel sorry for the car's next owner, though.
