[FWDLK] body mounts

Hi Alan and fwdlk gang,

I was trying to recall that conversation- if you're referring to the actual cowl mount, ahead of the first body mount accessible on the forwardmost floor pan location, that is typically comprised of doubled-up solid cup washers, along with washers they had lying around during assembly as shims, below the chassis outrigger is another washer, lockwasher, and bolt. this body mount location is almost always a "solid mount", where the rad supposr, and all other locations utilize rubber biscuits sandwiching the chassis standoff/outrigger/stantion, exc for the location under the rear seat that sandwiches the body sheetmetal, and the snubber mounts under the trunk floor- first position behind the rear wheels.
in a few instances the cowl mounts were rubber mounted.. but a small portion, maybe 3 or so of about 60+ 57-59 fwdlks i've had across the board.
the position i mentioned where its typical to not see the additional mount was under the rear seat location- its hit-or-miss on 4drht's, or perhaps a difference between 57/8s as depending on manufacture time there are mount differences- another difference is the floor support that cancels on either side of the trans tunnel just about the location of your heel on the frt floor pans, on 57s theres a sheetmetal loop/connection from left to right that isn't typical on 58s. again some 2dr ht's have 2 mounts, some have one.. i think a sedan i have has both... thats based on whether or not a] the body was punched for a mount AND b] the frame has a provision for the mount- typically its a threaded boss welded atop the frame rail in that spot... the last 4 frames i had out from under cars [2 57 2drht's, 58 4dr sedan, 58 2dr sedan] had only that provision.
the notation of mount type/location is in the original body manual- i looked at it about 12 yrs ago.

Jim
