Hmmm...don't even know how that could happen, unless the piston inside the
bore was undersize (designed for m/c with 1" bore instead of 1 1/8" ?).
Methinks he's done for. Needs to bite the bullet and buy a new
carpet.

A friend recently discovered the master cylinder on his 57 DeSoto has
been leaking inside and down the firewall. Apparently it has been going on for
some time and the Goer's replacement carpet uses foam rather than jute.
Any advice as to how he might save the carpet, get the smell out and actually
remove the Dot 3 from the foam. He will remove it and can soak it in a
cleaning solution but he is not sure what is best to use. Thanks
