I guess I like the “massive-look” of Mopars powerplants – they go with the rest of the Chrysler engineering and are built much better in my opinion. Among all the Poly engines I have there is a nice set of freshly machined 340 X Heads if any of you are in need – I decided I don’t need to hang on to them any longer. Gary Pavlovich Some years ago I went to the Hot Rod Nationals, along with the racing they have a decent swap meet and car show at the venue where I am. Whilst walking the long way to the swaps area I spied a nice looking small hot rod coupe, and since it had an open hood area I was able to spy the 'hemi' sitting in it from a distance. ALrighty I go, lets check this one out a little. MAJOR BUMMER when I got close enough to it to stick my head around it. It Had Black Plastic Valve covers in the early Hemi configuration, But it had Skirts on the flange. The Skirts covered the spark plugs and wires going to them, Yups Someone went to some trouble to make FAKE Hemi covers to disguise the chebby small block to look like a mopar! Basically the plastic covers allowed the spark plug wires to pass through them like the hemi. The Skirts were also cut to just fit between the exhaust system at the manifold as they provided the camouflage of the true spark plug locations. At least it was semi-retro, it did have chevy double hump heads. -- Paul Holmgren Mine: 2 57 300-C's in Indy Hers: 05 PT GT R/T HO Stage 1 Hoosier Corps L#6 "The secret of freedom lies in educating people, whereas the secret of tyranny is in keeping them ignorant."
