Aha! I think that solves the mystery. My air cleaner housing is unlike the one in your schematic. It has a much taller profile. It has a similar thumb screw, but also a bolt and washer for a lateral brace. It looks like those pictured on older models. I'm thinking it is from an older series. I imagine the old one was lost along the way and someone fitted this one. I really need to find a service parts list. Thanks Jack for taking the time to send the layout. Now I wonder if anyone wants to trade a low profile oil bath setup for an older one?
