I'm thinking that it's just a plate that's tack welded to
the inner door to accomodate the crank windows, and to cover the bolt holes
needed for the p/w assembly. Cars built with power windows had door shells
without this plate.
Economically, it wouldn't have been cost efficient to
create a unique door shell for p/w cars.

Hi All -
For 55-6 Chryslers and Desoto 2dr HT and convertible,
the parts book indicates that a different door shell was used whether you had
power windows or not. Does anyone know the difference between the door shells
?
