Re: [FWDLK] Gas Tank

I used rubberized cork to make gaskets for the gas tank drain plug and sender unit.  It comes in 8x11 sheets and easy to cut.  Put some grease on the gasket before tightening.  That prevents it from binding and galling when you tighten it.

Thanks to all who helped.  The tank that caused my inquiries ended up having a severely rusted bung plug.  I got it freed up though.  My other tank was much easier to remove the plug.  I noticed that some form of form-in-place gasket material was used to seal the plug.  Any recommendations on a replacement material.  I think I will try making a fluorosilicone gasket.  Are there other recommendations?
