  Being the crafty sort of guy I am, I took a battered flathead screwdriver, heated the shank to get a 10º bend

about 1/3 of the way up from the tip, then built up said tip to a glob, and ground it back down to make a head

head with a slot that grabs the spring edge to force it down, releasing the grip on the crank shaft.  I posted a

photo of it to the forum pages once when the subject came up, but cannot find it now.  Works like a champ.
