If it is like my 59 Desoto There are 2 wheel cylinders per wheel instead of the more modern 1 per wheel This can make for difficulty as the cylinders get older and exert different pressures Be prepared to replace or rebuild 8 wheel cylinders

JT,
When I bought my 56 Dodge, it did the same thing. This was caused by a leaking wheel cylinder on the opposite side. The brake fluid lubricates the lining on one side so it has unequal reduced braking and pulls to the opposite side.
Time for a brake overhaul. There may also be other causes.
