Cars with to sets of points in the distributer have an insulated wire that connects the contract sets together. This wire may rub on the distributer housing and to ware bare and short out. Upon acceleration the advace plate moves and if your car cuts out on acceleration this is a good place look and wrap this wire with insulateing tape cheap and easy fix.
