On car with dual point distributers the wire between the points may rub against the housing and ware through this action happens when the vaccuum advance plate moves. The cure is to wrap the wire with tape. It takes a long time for this to happen,about twenty years in my case but it has happened twice to me. David wallace 55 year 1958 fury owner
