This is when it sold in Jan. If you look at the images you can see one where part of the original tag is present. It appears to have a screw in it. At that point, almost any DMV is going require a state issued Vin tag, it’s just the reality of the situation. I don’t think that impacted the end value. Unfortunately the 59’s have never brought a premium. I think it was reasonably bought on both sides assuming it was a real transaction. There are short comings of the restorations that are keeping it from reaching max value.

He did not know where the secret stamping's are on those cars and not understand how the tags are properly affixed. He was a late 60s early 70s muscle car expert, who decided to declare himself an expert on other cars.
Very frustrating to see the history of this car get hurt so badly. It's a wonderful car with a couple of great options (as has already been discussed).
