| 99% of the time you can’t test drive an auction car. I don’t even know how many cars I’ve bought at auction, 50? There are cars I’m fine buying without being there but if it’s bigger money, I’ll be present. I’ll watch them attempt to cold start it and look over the car. At this point I’ve done this enough to have an idea of what I’m looking at pretty quick.
Buyers should always beware and ask questions, but a lot of times if you want a certain type of car, auction is the only way.

I’m sure that’s what you would advise your kids to do before buying a used car. None of the above gets a mention on the auction website. Not even photos underneath. I only bought my 300C sight unseen because everything needed doing, it was cheap, and I wanted a resto project. Didn’t get any surprises. Unfortunately, my friend, the late Mick Maxwell got caught importing a shiny red 300D which had bad paint/bodywork and a chassis made of swiss cheese. Buyer beware. To all great folks in letter car land. Broad Arrow Auctions has the G listed in their catalog at No Reserve with estimated $120k to $150k. Looking at the photo #153 of Vin Plate you get the feeling the attention to detail was not a high priority. Between the Black speckled over spray, smudges of body color, missing rivets, and small section of wind lace needing to be tucked in you have reason to wonder what else did they slap together.
