Henry –

I’m sure that when you say ‘torch’, you are referring to a flashlight. I would certainly have reservations if someone held an open flame under my car to do an inspection.

Agree that it is pretty.

However, why would you buy an expensive used car without first:-

  • Inspecting underneath with a torch and a screwdriver;
  • Test driving for engine/transmission/steering/braking operation;
  • Checking paint for filler etc, etc?

I’m sure that’s what you would advise your kids to do before buying a used car.  None of the above gets a mention on the auction website.  Not even photos underneath.

I only bought my 300C sight unseen because everything needed doing, it was cheap, and I wanted a resto project.  Didn’t get any surprises.

Unfortunately, my friend, the late Mick Maxwell got caught importing a shiny red 300D which had bad paint/bodywork and a chassis made of swiss cheese.  Buyer beware.

Cheers

Henry
