Don't be tempted. These are rubbish. I got burned. I see that the
aptly self-named 'eyes4crime' has now changed his wording. He used to say
"ORIGINAL", in all his descriptions,which they certainly are not. He
offered me a refund, only if I posted him pos or at least good neutral
feedback. I told him, no way Jose ! So, no refund for me, I posted his
only 2 negatives for his nastiness in e-mails to me and for sending me an
incorrectly described item.
He sells photocopies, out of some book he has, and bad ones at that. The
total amount for 2 'original' (not!!) de-coders was $21, so no help from
e-Bay, who deduct the first $25 from any successful claim.
All the info on the 1965 Chrysler de-coder he sent me is right in my '65
parts book, in fact much more info is in that book.The 300F one is rubbish
too.

Winter has been so mild this year in the Wisconsin northwoods I delayed
removing the battery from my C until today. I normally charge it at this
time and store it on wood blocks in the basement until spring. Is that
good procedure for prolonging battery life? Should it be recharged in the
spring? I don't get to drive my C much and only put on a few hundred
miles a year.

Conventional wisdom says batteries have to be regularly used in order to
get
maximum life. Like your C, my old car batteries don't see much use. I buy
economy batteries for $35/each, expect them to last three years and at 3
years replace them whether they are still good or not -- to me the expense
of $12/year is a bargain to avoid battery problems.

I think it's all a crapshoot. This fall I pulled a
group 27 Interstate battery out of my G and replaced
it for preventative maintenance. I put the old one in
my '61 New Yorker driver. Since this winter has been
mild, I'm still driving the NYer. In March, this
battery will be 9 years old(!), and it's cranking the
NYer over in sub-freezing temps. I've never put
anything but tap water in it and never pulled it out
of the car in winter. I don't remember it ever being
dead.
I'm not advocating this type of battery care. I admit
I brought the new G battery inside for the winter...

correct red paint for the center of the wheelcovers. Does anyone out

in paint adhesion? Should I roughen up the remnents of the existing red

Terry,
After an unsuccessful try at painting my G covers last year, I strongly
recommend removing the paint, priming and then re-paint. My difficulty
came from the Amorall and other silicones that had been used on the
tires. This sprayed, spread and dripped onto the covers. The problem did
not show up during my primer stage, only after color was applied. The
fish eyes were VERY bad.

I did my 300F covers about a year ago. After
disassembly and masking i did a rough up of the old
paint with 0000 fine steel wool and then cleaned with
a solvent from SEM used to prep plastics and vinyls
for repaint. Covers turned out great.

Subject: Carltons Question Followup
I read Carltons question about storing his 300-C's battery
indoors over the winter. It struck me that doing this is a
way to extend the battery life, but according to the teachings
from where I worked it should have a charging system to
maintain the "float" voltage on it so that it does not
decay during its storage. I gave that some thought and
solar powered battery maintainers seem a nice eco-friendly
way to address this issue. I know others winter over their cars.
