Hi,

Just pulled the coil from an unmolested 57 Windsor. It carries the
Chrysler
part #1688212, and the Auto-Lite #CAH-4001 and is date coded 6M. Any one
want a picture of it?

I live in the same town as John Hayes. He has had the
car for a number of years, I remember when he was
restoring it . I do not believe its a rebody but I am
not positive.

Hi
I need the paint formula to have a 56 300B repainted. The chrysler color
is cloud white and ditzler code is 8036 but my bodyman is unable to find
the formula out of these infos.
So does anybody know the crossreference in another brand of paint ?
Thanks

Raphael,
Ditzler is the same company as PPG Industries and a PPG dealer should be
able
to get that code or cross reference to it.
I had some touch-up mixed 4 years ago in Duracryl Acrylic Lacquer and the
can
has Color #8894 on the can. It seem to match my "Cloud White" OK.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Can 2 '62's Be Wrong?

Can you forward the following question to the 300 club?

Picture this:
I decide to remove the A/C clutch from our '62 300 the other day &
actually
read the service manual on the correct way to remove it. I run to the
hardware store, buy the 5/8 x 2 1/2" cap screw the manual calls for & try
to
screw it into the clutch. No dice, way too big. So I go back to the
hardware store & buy a 1/2 x 2 1/2" cap screw. No dice, too small.

I then decide to go to our '62 NY wagon. Same clutch, with the same
diameter threads that neither cap screw wants to screw into.

So...
*	Am I a moron?
*	Is the service manual wrong?
*	Is there another option to popping the magnetic clutch off?
*	Do I try to be even more persistent and make the 5/8 cap screw go
into the
clutch?

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Matt Allyn

I saw this at Chryslers at Carlisle a year or two ago, and it happened to
be
mounted on a rare 63-64 short ram setup...

The company's name escapes me, unfortunately.

Subject: Another 300C restoration detail poll: Left Valve Cover

Okay, my friends, I have been put onto another restoration distinction
that
has to be sorted out, thanks to the sharp eyes of Marv Raguse, the owner
of
what was once my Gauguin C hardtop.

The latest point up for discussion is the probability that from 1957 to
1958
there was a change in the positioning of the spot-welded coil bracket base
on the left side valve cover of the 300 C and D motors.

The current assumption is this:
If you have a 300C or D up through VIN #1585, the bracket is positioned
above the letter "E" in the "FIREPOWER" script. This places the coil
extremely close to the expanded brake booster.
If you have a 300D after VIN #1585, the bracket is positioned above the
letter "W" in the "FIREPOWER" script. This places the coil some 2+" away
from the expanded brake booster.

As far as what the assorted parts books say:
LEFT VALVE COVER
1735 780	1957 and 1958 300 motors up through D VIN#1585
1851 720	1957 300 and NYer "power pac" (dual quads, no solid
lifters option)
motors
1944 626	1958 300 motor after VIN #1585

The parts book indicates there are THREE different valve covers! I don't
know what that third variation might be nor is there any way for me to
know
what #s should be assigned to the two assumptions written out above!

Your comments are welcome. What valve cover coil bracket placement is on
your C? your D?
Any ideas on a third variant?

Cs"
or "Cs are driving him Crazy".

Hi to all,

I would like to point out to the group ebay auction Item # 601080448  ;
it's for a set of repro rocker panels for 57 thru 59 Chrysler, Dodge and
DeSoto 2 doors. It's unclear from the ad whether there are more of these
available, or if the seller just has the one set...

Should anybody look into this, please let the group know whether the
seller has more than one set available !

John

I am typing this before checking the above out.

I did have a set of replacement rocker panels for my project.

There are at least 2 ways these are made. One way is a "correct"
fit and shape replacement. The other way is a cover that fits OVER
the originals. This is what I had, and my bodyshop man had to
rework them to be true replacements instead of caps.

Folks
I have a 300H project in need of some serious rust repair. It has rust
around
both the front and rear windows as well as the usual fender/rocker panel
rot.
I have new rocker panels but am looking for information on tracking down
replacement metal for the other problem areas. Would also enjoy getting
information on a body shop that does quality work in the Ventura or Los
Angeles County area.

Thanks

So there was a hydraulic lifter 300C option?
