If you have the old originals still on the car, most muffler shops can
fabricate an entire system to match.  It is cheaper than having some outfit
like Keplich make you one, pay for the shipping, and then hear the local
installer complain about the lousy fit and hit you with a hefty modification
charge plus installation.  If the syslem rattles that they made, they will
adjust free.  Not so with somebody elses. I only use Keplich as an example
and this note is waaaaaaaay not an endorsement.

Subject: Tilt Wheel on a K

Folks:

I have an opportunity to buy a tilt column for a '64 and was thinking of
using it to convert a non-tilt K to tilt. The person does not have the
original round wheel w/ the column so I would have to use the existing
square wheel.

My questions are:

1) Would the square wheel "fit" the tilt column post?

2) By utilizing the square wheel, am I entirely negating the ability to tilt
the wheel "lower in the lap" in the first place? (Car has power seat, but I
do like a lower steering wheel position, if this would work)

Anyone with any experience on this, please share your thoughts (including
any other potential issues).

Thanks,

Keith

The spline patterns are totally different and the wheels won't interchange.
Come up with the correct non square but slightly oblong wheel and you would
be ok though I believe.

I do have a solid black used wheel available.  Write off group if
interested.

Hi Gang:

We have managed to secure a number of rooms for Carllisle.  They are
at the Quality Inn at Enola, PA. This is right off old exit number 21 on
Route 81. (Apparently all the exits on Rt. 81 have been renumbered for some
unknown reason).  The address is 501 East Enola Road, Enola, PA.  Phone is
717-732-0785.

The room rate is $79.00 for Thursday and $99.00 for Friday or Saturday
night.  We have about 9 rooms left, I think, and they will keep them
available until July 4th. The regular rate is about $120.00.  In order to get
the low rate you MUST identify yourself as belonging to the Chrysler 300 Club
International.  I understand that there are restaurants in the area and a
lounge as well, so if you want to get in on this, please make sure to call
before July 4th.   After that date, the rooms will no longer be held for us.

I hope to see a bunch of you at Carlisle WITH YOUR CARS!!!!!

Pete Fitch

ryan;
know just what you mean about the right person, but it was deeper
than that this time. my friend ron and i [i was in nj  at his place, on
vacation] both saw it picking the wrong valves at crankin speed and you
could see the scars later on the sides and edjes of the cam lobes and
the lifters from the ajacent [wrong] lobe lifting right on the edje of
the lifter, improper lobe location. it appeared to me as if a 3 bolt
timing gear cam blank had been used and ground into a 1 bolt cam,
registering off the very front of the cam. at any rate; he let them know
that he was a police sergeant and did a weekly 1/2 hr radio talk show on
cars [among other things] and i wrote and threatened just exactly this
action and believe me, we got their attention, it didnt change the
outcome, they just dont care, i suppose that they figure [aparrently
correctly] that it wont make any difference.. it would seem that they
are correct, ron and i will never again buy anything comp, but that is
about all the effect the situation will have. nobody will believe us,
and/or will figure we dont know what we are talking about and we did
something wrong; and thats exactly what happens.. its a bit
frustrating!!
thanks for the considerate reply, your points are correct and
well taken, i just think we are all making some erroneous assumptions,
namely that they care about one customer, they really dont.
