The Chrysler 413 weighs 640 and the Mopar 413 weighs 670. I understand of course, different sources. The 670 figure is the one I grew up with. I have a feeling the 670 figure includes alternator, carburetor and such. No intake, exhaust or trimmings. The trucking company is asking for the weight. Anybody have any idea of a good approximation? After wrestling with it this afternoon, I can only attest to the fact that it is HEAVY. I never quite understood why Chrysler didn't make a bigger thing of it since they created a "special" engine displacement in the process. I believe there were 1950 DeSoto Adventurers made in 1957. Wonder if the production of this standard equipment 1 HP/Cu. In. engine might not have exceeded that of the Chevy 283/283??? Probably not, but is nice to think about. Relative to the 354/355 300B optional engine: That information was entered into the AMA (Automobile Manufacturers Association) specifications on April 16, 1956. The official letter to the dealers announcing the availability of the higher compression head bringing the HP to 355 was dated June 13, 1956. This certainly suggests the 355 unit was not available in February for Daytona, and, as Jim Faber points out, Chrysler stated it was a 340 HP 300B that set the records. These Daytona cars probably would have had the 3" exhaust and 9.5" wheels, though, as they were in the AMA specs as of 12-5-55. The 300B may not be particularly sleek by todays standards, but was certainly more aerodynamic than the 300C which could not match its record the following year on the sand. As most of you probably know, the 300B record was not bested until the 400HP (production??!) 300F in 1960. Fun stuff, eh? 300ly Gil C. Dear 300 friends, Thank you all for your help. I have got a lot of e-mails from members offering their help to go check a car for me. The deal was done quite quick and there was no time to have someone check the car. Thank you anyway. I was not able to buy the car, but the good thing is that my best friend bought it ( a C300). He has found out what a fantastic club this is and is now one of the new members. I also got your experiences with "Classic Exhaust" and a system is ordered. Many thanks from Matts Wignell Sweden ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 4 Date: Sat, 22 Nov 2003 13:28:20 -0800 From: "George and Rene Ver Berkmoes" <zzub@xxxxxxx> Subject: 65L QUARTER PANEL EMBLEMS Hi, The Chrysler 300 rear quarter emblems on my "L" are faded to the point that there is no color and I'd like to repaint them. Could someone on the list send me a digital photo of an emblem that shows the colors and how the numbers (300) are painted? Thanks in advance. Now that our move is done and we are settled in, I have found that I have a number of J&K parts that I don't need or want. I still have the J to finish parting out, all the 3" brakes are there, the rear axle w/ 3.23 sure grip, a nice console(no tach), floor heel trim for the driver side, very nice J emblems, inner fenders for a J or K ram, no rust or damage w/ the access plates, much more. For the 64 I have a very nice grille insert, pit free chrome. NUMEROUS odds and ends for both cars, and some station wagon parts as well. These parts need to go to someone who needs them and I am out of space to store this stuff!! If I can't get any one in the club to buy some of this then it will go on ebay or to the yard for stock, so to speak. Email me direct with your needs.
