> Hi All, > > Anybody ever swapped a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission between a Dodge truck and a Chrysler car? Like a 1980 to 1987 or so full sized Dodge 150 pickup truck with 360 engine to like a 1969 to 1971 383 or 440 powered 300 or NY'er (or other Mopar)? > > Will it work at all? > > If so are there any major changes required? > > We'd appreciate any advice from the wise. There will be internal differences in 727 automatics from one application to another that may or may not be important. The 360 trans should not physically match/bolt up to a R/RB block either. The 360 B/RB flex plates and converters will not swap. The 360 should be an externally balanced engine and the B/RB engines you mention are internally balanced so converter/flex plate combo must match engine. This situation I have seen mixed up by supposed professional shops. A lockup converter was used with the 904 trans and is much more common behind a 360 than is a 727. One model designation is 999 when so equipped. The 904 and it's derivatives are Torqueflites but definately not 727's. I may be corrected but, to the best of my knowledge, the 727 did not have any application with the lockup converter gadget (at least until it became a computer controlled 4 speed overdrive).
