Change the fluid, it's the cheapest insurance you can buy. Be sure to 
remove the pan so you can clean out the gunk in the bottom of it. You might 
consider adding the late type filter to the valve body while the pan is 
off, it does a better job than that little can in the line thing and 
replacements are available anywhere. Good time to check the low-reverse 
band adjustment also.
