You make a good point, but the proof is in the pudding. Sure, the CV boot
will be turning at 3-4 times the RPMs that it would normally see, but if it
doesn't hold up, so what? It's not in a critical place that would cause
damage if it tore, you would just be back where you started, needing a new
boot or a conversion to a better system.
Personally I've given up on the old boots. They are expensive (if you can
find one) and don't last. I will probably try the CV boot next, as my NOS
boot with about 3000 miles on it has failed.
