RE: [Chrysler300] Wire Wheels vs. Stock Wheels & Covers

Rick,

I ran bias ply tires on my G for about 6 years in the early '80s and I will
NEVER go back to them. As far as I'm concerned they are junk and unsafe to
use on a letter car, unless you plan on trailering it or changing to them
for show purposes only.

The improvement in handling and safety by going to radials is very
pronounced and enhances the driving experience greatly. For those of you
that say "the car came with bias ply tires when new", I agree they did, but,
it was a special racing tire and the best that tire technology had to offer
at the time.

I've also had wire wheels and know what a challenge it is to keep them
clean, true, inflated and in balance. The simplest fix for keeping air in
them is to install tubes, but keeping them in balance and true will remain a
challenge.

My advice is to buy a good set of radials and find a set of original wheels
and wheel covers to mount them on. Keep the wires for show use only.
