RE: [Chrysler300] Generator Vs. Alternator

I wanted the reliability and availability of an alternator, and the
advantage of 15" wheels, which is why I got a 61 G instead. (I even got rid
of the toilet seat in the process)
But seriously, if you're on the road on a Saturday and the needle points to
'discharge', you'll have much better luck at NAPA or PEP BOYS when asking
for an alternator than a generator.

Restoration is underway of our '60 300 F coupe. We are intending to make
Big Yellow an excellent driver with potential for show - but we want the
reliability factor. That brings us to the question - do we convert to
alternator or have the generator rebuilt? Other than originality, what's
the downside of converting? The car will be driven less than 5000 per year,
probably never more that 3 hours from home in Los Angeles, CA.
