Hi all Was talking about camshafts the other day with a good freind and experienced race engine builder about camshaft specs. He enlightened me to the fact, that by altering the valve lash by .001" of an inch on my 392, I will alter the duration of the cam by 3 degrees. So in my case if I move my valve lash clearance from say .012" to .013" I'm taking my 233 degree duration cam down to 230. Or decrease the lash and go to a 236 duration. He recommended a max of .003" alteration, but hey, that gives us 9 degrees to play with either way when tuning the motor to how we want it. Many of you on the list were probably already aware of this, but for those who were not, like me, I thought it was kinda interesting. Worth keeping in mind next time you adjust the valves......
