Jeff, I have also heard stories about Comp cams and have heard that they can 
go flat very quickly.(In small block Chevys) However, a friend of mine has 
worked at a speed shop for many years and talked me into using one in my 
current project. He's a Mopar fanatic and has several sweet muscle cars 
which he runs a variety of different cams in. He claims to have had very few 
complaints from customers (never from a mopar) and when there have been 
problems they have had no trouble 'making it right'.

His selling point to me was the amount of R&D that goes into the cams. I 
have always run MP Purple Shaft cams and ISKY but the specs (according to 
these sales guys)hasn't changed over the years with the MP cams. With all of 
the improvements that have allowed gains in performance, drivablility, and 
fuel economy over the last ten years I wanted a cam that could give me those 
benefits. 'Comp' is apparently one of the leaders as far as R&D goes so I 
thought I'd try one and judge for myself.

I'm sure many people have been soured by bad experiences with products and 
companies but often it is who you are dealing with that makes the 
difference. If I were you Jeff, I'd get your friend to persue the problem 
with someone else at Comp Cams. Perhaps a local rep? This is the type of bad 
publicity that most companies endevour to avoid and you would be amazed at 
the results of dealing with someone within a company that cares about their 
reputation.
