Over the years I've had dealings with SMS and although on one occasion it took a good amount of time to receive my order which was paid for in advance it did arrive. I find the quality and representation of their product to be good. I've heard stories like these concerning such vendors as Gary Goers and others, but they have always delivered the goods for me. I spoke to this friend, turns out that the manufacturer is a major distributor of upholstery fabrics, not a manufacturer. My friend was more than pleased to give me the name of the firm. The firm is SMS and I believe he said located in Oregon. He had paid them 700.00 cash for fabric that was never delivered to him and was basically told by the owner of SMS to go kiss a brick regarding getting his money back. I have absolute faith in my friend's tale of woe. Again my friend is well known by many of you and has an excellent reputation for the quality of his work on 300's and Chryslers in general. > > Anyone else out there had good, bad or indifferent dealings with this firm? > ----- Original Message ----- > From: obiwan10 > To: Chrysler 300 Club Listverver ; John Hertog > Sent: Saturday, December 07, 2002 11:19 PM > Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] MetalCrafters - reply > > > My friend is quite aware of MetalCrafters from previous dealings and he does not believe that he is confusing them with anyone. I showed him the photos of the prototype quarters on the website and he was immediately a skeptic. This was some 6 weeks or so ago. There also is a renown auto upholstery fabric manufacture in the Northwest US(WA) who he also has such an opinion of. Ordered and paid for up front upholstery fabric for his New Yorker and in some 3 years has yet to receive it. There are in this industry many frauds, scams and charlatans and many of our members have at one time or another been victim. In fact I suspect that most of us have been made promises that have been broken by some of these types of operatives. Incidentally my friend is located in Southern Calif and he among the best at what he does.
