354 CI hemi for 1957

The D-501, 1957, Dodge featured in the February, 2003, 'Mopar Muscle' with
the 354 hemi is what they say would have been the Chrysler NASCAR offering
for 1957. What engine was this? Was this a warmed up 300-B engine? A picture
shows definately a hemi with two 4-bbl carbs in line (and a lot of other
strange looking stuff) which could mean that the race engine used the
production 300-B manifold or - - -. Just curious.
