How else would you differentiate a carburetor with a slightly different Main Air Bleed, or a different Choke Coil, or a different Step-up Spring, from each other. Each carburetor was custom-calibrated for the automobile it was used on. That being said, using similar carburetors with slight variations is commonly done after new-car delivery.
