Tire size for 64 300K

I am sure this has been discussed ad infinitum on the list before but I need
the correct modern tire size for my 300K. I think Murray Park had told me 225
75 R 14, but when I told the Tires Plus guy, he looked at me like I had 2
heads. He offered a set of 215 75 14's with thin whitewalls. By the way I have 14
X 5.5 wheels, as Murray did not have enough 14 X 6 available just before the
Columbus Nats. So, if the tires will fit the 5.5 inch rims, I will go for
whatever the consensus is. Thanks Greg
PS Does anyone have one of those old time Motorola "right angle" adapters for
tight clearance radio antenna connections? I used to have a few when I
installed car stereos and CB's back in the day, but cannot find them in Radio Shack
or elsewhere now. The adapter would be Motorola plug to Motorola receptacle,
either solid all metal, or pigtail would be cool too.
