Christopher,
1.On some u-joints, it's necessary to attach an adapter on the end of the 
grease gun that has a smaller fitting or a needle point to get into tight 
places.

2.When turning the output shaft by hand it will have more resistance in one 
direction because of the one-way "sprag" clutch in the rear of the trans 
holding some of the parts from turning, it is designed to work that way and 
is not a problem.

3.If the differential has a limited-slip carrier, it should have an 
identifying tag under one of the mounting bolts, casting numbers on the 
housing are generally just used to identify the housing itself.
