Perhaps the brake light switch in your ³B² is an original (OEM) and not an after market switch that may have a diaphragm made of a substance that is susceptible to shrinkage when in long term contact with silicone fluid. There has been a problem with seals in some modern disc brake calipers where the seals shrink with silicone fluid. Replacement seals were immersed in silicone fluid in a dish. After a month, the seals shrunk to half their size. The manufacturer had to switch seal manufacturers and material specs to eliminate the problem. All brake light switches are NOT created equal and the original NOS switches (if you can still get one) most probably would have the flexible diaphragm dried out after 40 years. The advantages of silicone fluid is that it is not hydroscopic and is a good choice in autos that are no used daily to eliminate water build up in the hydraulic brake lines. Switching to a mechanical switch is no big deal as a trade off for the advantages of using silicone. No problem with brake light switch. Any wiring or grounding problems on the Saragota? Perhaps bad connection at point where light bulb "tits" contact socket?
