I did not know where they were.  I tried describing them to the clerk and 
asked where small things like packages of nuts and screws were.  He knew 
that.  I got him to tell me where related items might be.  Then I looked 
there and found them.

You might think this is trivial but when you have a car apart outside, its 
winter and it is getting dark and you need a cotter pin to put it together 
it is not trivial  The "guys"had lost the original one.
