[Chrysler300] F-G-H vs J-K short rams

A little further info on F-G-H versus J-K short rams.

The F-G-H short rams were all the casting number given in the current eBay auction. In '60 and '61 they were painted red. Those on my car were in fact gloss red although they have been challenged to be the same semi-gloss of the 375 HP cars. In '62 the short rams were the new engine blue/green color. The 400HP F air cleaners were also gloss red and had taller internal studs because a taller filter element was employed for high speed breathing requirements. I do not know the color of the 400HP G air cleaners. I presume the '62 405HP air cleaners were gold.

The F-G-H short rams had their casting numbers on the bottom sides of the rams and all were hot water heated. The F-G-H headers did not have a heat port cast in their sides for carburetor heat. The J-K short rams had their casting numbers on the top side of the rams and were heated by exhaust heat from the manifolds.

I have a picture taken through my left wheel well showing the water fittings if anyone would care to see it. Just ask

Hope this helps.

Blessed Easter all y'all,
Wayne
