Does ignition have to be switched on to activate cigarette lighter circuit 
to battery?  How about cigarette lighter fuse current handling capability? 
I also normally disconnect battery ground cable when 300 is parked for any 
period of time(example clock can run it down if winder hangs up)  Sounds a 
little spooky to me, but if you were to go first-----and of course let us 
know how it worked out for you!

I've got the connector cables mounted permanently on my motorcycles and they 
are long enough to hide quite well but still be convenient to access.  You 
could possibly connect to your battery cable and have the access thru your 
grill and tuck the wire back in behind grill when not in use.  These Battery 
Tender like devices are excellent to keep your battery happy.
