The long rams require that the carburetor accelerator pump be working well for these cars to take off smoothly from a stop or to perform a tip-in from a low speed situation, especially on a turn, without a stumble or spitback.  Also, warmup is often with stumbles even when the accelerator pump does work properly.  If your car sits for weeks at a time without driving, then the AFBs tend to have accelerator pump problems since the leather seems to dry out and take awhile to start working again.  In many cases, the plunger will need to be replaced or the leather worked a bit to make it seal again.  This seems most likely to me.
