RE: [Chrysler300] YOM License Plates



In California, you can't use a period correct, non-original issue license plate on a car unless it was produced in 1962 or earlier, unless they changed the law recently.  If your post-1962 car falls off record (sometimes in about 7 years of non-registration, but seem to be keeping them longer lately), you can't register the car even with its original plates unless you have some proof that the plate was originally on that car, e.g., an old registration form or title showing that plate number.  If you are lucky enough to have that proof, then you have to go through special processing unit of DMV to get it re-associated with your car, and often this takes 6 months or more.  Ask me how I know.
