[Chrysler300] Fun with C-300 'numbers'

I find it interesting that the engine S/N 3NE551098 of my 1955 C-300 is
exactly 100 less than the chassis number 3N551198--and the build card
verifies this was the original combination as built on 3-12-55. I
recall reading that engine selection was fairly random in 1955, also.

I would interpret "Matching Numbers" as meaning the chassis and engine
number combination "Match" the original build ticket. Is this correct
terminology?

More 300 motors were built and sold than cars. Thus, early in production the motor and frame were close to the VIN but by the end they were 50 numbers apart or more.
