[Chrysler300] Re: Fun with C-300 'numbers'

Yes, when the factory build record showing numbered components of the vehicle matches the components on the vehicle today, it is a "matching numbers" vehicle.

In '55 in particular and probably similarly in '56, there were numerous sales of 300 motors without a car.

Subject: Fun with C-300 'numbers'

I find it interesting that the engine S/N 3NE551098 of my 1955 C-300 is
exactly 100 less than the chassis number 3N551198--and the build card
verifies this was the original combination as built on 3-12-55. I
recall reading that engine selection was fairly random in 1955, also.

I would interpret "Matching Numbers" as meaning the chassis and engine
number combination "Match" the original build ticket. Is this correct
terminology?
