RE: RE: [Chrysler300] 1966 chrysler 440 TNT??

The engine in the Hurst was indeed the TNT 440 from 1970. This was one
of the reasons the engines were pulled out of these cars and placed into
other B, A, or E body Mopars when the Hurst body was damaged or poorly
taken care of. I have 2 1970 300's, a Hurst and a 350hp 300 two door.
They do drive differently, and you can tell that the Hurst has extra
hardware to accomplish this. The Hurst is a firmer ride (extra leaf
spring in the rears, and I believe a thicker front sway bar), is much
quicker off the line (extra HP, duel exhaust with the HP exhaust
manifolds, and a lower rear end ratio).

The regular 300 rides very smooth and quietly, and handles like most New
Yorkers or Newports of that era. It has a higher top end speed, due to
the different rear end ratio (at least 150+ if you dare).

They are both great cars to drive, and are starting to be admired by the
general public better, due to the added popularity of all the older
300's.

I have a 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst, which as I understand it, has a 440
TNT engine? The air cleaner top cover says 440 TNT. My understanding is
that the engine, which is single 4 BBL., is 375 HP? I have never checked
the engine marking under the AC compressor, but will do so down the
road. The car is dual exhaust. Is it safe to assume that this engine has
the larger valves, etc. as mentioned in this note? I know the car has
the original engine, as my dad purchased the car new in 1970, and the
car has never left our family. Anyone farmiliar with the engine in the
1970 Hurst, please let me know. Thanks. Steve S. from Columbus, OH.
