Add my K convert to the list of battery and charging problems. On its maiden trip to the first Nashville meet the voltage regulator was just slightly overcharging. The amp gauge really didn't show anything was amiss. It only showed the problem on long highway runs. It would "boil" the old style battery and spray acid on the bottom of the hood and all down the inner fender. I had to keep a rag over the battery caps. Pretty depressing stuff on a fresh car.
