Re: [Chrysler300] Steering wheel puller

Jerry,
Auto Zone has those steering wheel pullers in their loan-a-tool program. You can also buy them, they are not expensive and you could use it in the future. It's basically a heavy gauge round plate with a bunch of holes, and a bag of various size bolts. First remove the large nut from the steering shaft. On the wheel puller, a large bolt goes in the middle hole and smaller bolts go through other holes and into the threaded holes in the face of the steering wheel. I don't remember if it's two holes or three. You thread in the small bolts evenly and then tighten the large bolt down against the steering shaft. Keep turning the large bolt. The pressure between the round plate and the shaft will push against the small bolt heads and thus pull the wheel off the shaft. When re-installing the wheel, look for a flat on the shaft and line it up with the missing groove on the wheel hub. Install the washer and nut, tighten until the wheel is firmly seated. Drive and enjoy.

Subject: [Chrysler300] Steering wheel puller

I am in need of a steering wheel puller or directions for removing my steering off my 62 300. I have seen them on ebay at a rather cheap price. Would Autozone or places like that carry them. Also is there anything I need to lookout for or be careful of. Thanks in advance.
