Since it finally warmed up here in frigid Dayton (70 degrees, and it's still technically winter!), I decided to take the 300D out of its winter home in my garage, fire it up, and take it for a spin. After thoroughly charging the battery, which had been in the basement since late November, the car started after no more than 20 seconds of cranking, but clearly it was not running that well, at least not on 8 cylinders. Back in the garage, after checking the plugs one at a time, I determined that the faulty cylinder was number eight (naturally, right under the blower motor housing). I pulled the plug, which was oil fouled, replaced it with a new one, and all was heaven again: Runnin' just fine! My question is this: Could the oil foul on the plug be the result of the car sitting idle for nearly four months and then starting up, or is this potentially an indication of a more serious problem? I guess, if it stays warm, and if I drive the car a bunch and the problem does not reoccur, that might be an answer, but I am interested in opinions out there. Thanks.
