RE: [Chrysler300] 300F panel alignment

So many of you have responded and I have tried to answer all emails. I did
as Gerald and later several other guys suggested and put shims under the
bolts furthest from the hinge mounts. I was sure it would cause the problem
to be worse but I was wrong. It took two 1/8 inch shims on the drivers side
of the hood but it dropped the hood 1/2 inch. I had a few shims of
different sizes and was able to bring all the panels into alignment.
Actually it only took about hour to complete the whole job.
George Riehl - Now I know why I had all those shims left over!
Thanks again guys!!

Mike; Having worked on a number of 300s, I did come across this problem.
When removing the hoods, have found "spacers" under the foreward hood bolt,
between the hood and the hinge plate. When re-assembeling, could not get the

hood to go down properly. Then remembering the "spacers" (on each foreward
side) and installed them. The "spacers" were about 1/4" thick. The hood went

down properly. The "spacers" were square shaped with the bolt hole in the
center and were the width of the hinge plate.
And in this grey old head, also remember that I had seen some "factory fix"

sheet about this problem. But just where that is, is probably a 40 hour
hunt. Hope this helps with a little experimenting with different "spacers".
Do you remember those "spacers" when you took the hood off? Yeah, right,
just like me remembering! I try and write things down, but, damm, can I
remember where I put the note?
